In 2006, a merger between the Dallas Children’s Museum, The Science Place and the Dallas Museum of Natural History created the Museum of Nature and Science. A large donation from the Perot family allowed construction to begin in late 2009 at the Victory Park site. In honor of the family the museum was then named the Perot Museum of Nature
