About the Missouri Institute of Natural Science
At the heart of the Missouri Institute of Natural Science is Riverbluff Cave. This cave, discovered by chance, is full of formations, fossils, tracks, and other markings made by animals that lived in the Ozarks during the Ice Age.
The discovery of this cave brought forth the need for the Missouri Institute of Natural Science, a home for a natural history museum that can educate the public on becoming better stewards for the environment. Through fossils, minerals, and other samples in the collection, members of the community can explore the past and learn about the oldest known Ice Age fossil cave in North America to date.
