The gold rush began in Sitka, Alaska in 1872 and continues into the 21st century. Alaska produced more gold than any other state except Nevada. Discover how gold is geologically formed and learn how it is extracted and refined into the shiny yellow metal that has been sought after throughout the ages. Presented by Prof. Steve Okulewicz from the Department of Geology and Environmental Sustainability at Hofstra University, Long Island, New York.
