Our first online meeting of metalsmiths went great, so we are continuing the fun for our February Meetup. Join us as we catch up with one another and discuss what we’ve been doing.
Two challenges were announced in January, and we touch base in February with those who want to participate in one or both of the challenges. Anyone may participate! The challenges are:
Challenge #1: The Three-hour Challenge. This is meant to be a hands-on jewelry making project that you do on your own using whatever you have on hand. Set a timer and create a piece of jewelry from start to finish in just three hours. You’ll want to use time to create a project that is difficult enough to take about three hours, but not more than three. Show us what you’e come up with during the Zoom meetup. Make this FUN!
Challenge #2: The Jewelry Suite Challenge. This is meant to be a pencil-to-paper exercise. Design a cohesive series of jewelry. The series can consist of a necklace, pair of earrings, and bracelet, or a ring, a pair of earrings, and a brooch, or whatever combination suits your taste. The idea is to draw it out on paper (it doesn’t have to be perfect) and carry some design elements from one piece of jewelry to the next, with the result being a coordinated set of jewelry. Share what you’ve designed, or bring your questions and roadblocks to the Zoom meetup and we will discuss as a group.
If you’re not sure which one to choose, pick #1. AND you don’t have to participate in one of the challenges to be welcome at the Meetup. We are here to connect with one another and have fun. This will be very casual.
